OUR PARTNERS

KENYA

In 2012, Seven Hills Global Outreach (SHGO) reached out to its Seven Hills Kenyan Diaspora and began forming partnerships with indigenous organizations in and around Nairobi, which support orphans and vulnerable children.

In Kenya, 1 in 3 children do not attend school and of the non attendees, 2 are girls. The student-teacher ratio is 40:1 nationally and in many poorer communities, over 80:1. In many classrooms 3 to as many as 7 children share textbooks while other supplies are unavailable. Despite this, Kenyans highly value education and typically make great sacrifices to try to pay school fees and purchase books and uniforms. When a family is unable to pay these costs, children cannot attend school. Further complicating these problems are an ever increasing number of orphans which today total over 12 million in Africa and over 900,000 just in Kenya.
